“إذا تنخم أحدكم فلا يتنخمن قبل وجهه و لا عن يمينه و ليبصقن عن يساره أو تحت قدمه اليسر ع”

438 – It is reported from the words of Abu Hurayrah and Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), who saw a spit on the wall of the mosque, took a pebble, scraped it off and said:
“If one of you (wants to) spit, let them in no case spit in front of themselves or to the right, but only to the left or under the left leg! “
This hadith was narrated by Ahmad 3/88, 93, al-Bukhari 408-409 and Ibn Majah 761.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Sahih al-jami ‘as-sagyir 438.
