416 (صحيح)
“إذا بلغ الماء قلتين لم يحمل الخبث”
(حم 3 حب قط ك هق) عن ابن عمر.

416 – It is narrated from the words of ‘Abdullah ibn’ Umar that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“If the volume of water reaches two jugs, then it is not defiled.”

 This hadith was narrated by Ahmad 2/27, Abu Dawud 63, at-Tirmidhi 67, an-Nasai 1/175, Ibn Majah 517, Ibn Khuzaimah 92, Ibn Hibban 1253, ad-Daraqutni 1, al-Hakim 1/223, al- Bayhaqyi 1/270 and 272, Ibn Abu Sheiba 1533.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Sahih al-Jami ‘al-saghir 416, Mishkat al-Masabih 477, al-Irwa’23.

Note: Safi al-Rahman al-Mubarakfuri said:“The Arabic word“ Qulla ”(lit.“ jug ”) refers to large earthenware. The volume of these jugs may vary depending on the size of the crockery. However, the Arabs were well aware of the volume of the Hajar (earthen) jars, which were often mentioned in their poems and parables. This means that this hadith is about the Hajar jugs. The volume of each of these jugs was about 250 ratals, from which it follows that two jugs contained about 500 ratals, or 227 liters. ” See Ibn Hajar al-Asqaliani for details. “Bulug al-Maram”
